Training & Apprenticeships

AC Beck accent

Our workforce is A.C. Beck’s most important resource.

A.C. Beck uses a core competencies matrix to identify what type of training each employee needs – not only to comply with site regulations and requirements, but also to take the company forward. So, in addition to standard courses like IPAF, PASMA and CSCS, we also run in-house training programmes developed specifically for AC Beck staff.

As well as building knowledge, skills and experience, our approach to training makes a tremendous difference to workforce morale – increasing motivation, loyalty and teamwork. It’s one of the reasons why A.C. Beck has so many long serving employees. And why our reputation on site is so strong.

Apprenticeships

Over the past 10 years, A.C. Beck has supported more than 20 apprenticeships in painting, decorating and exterior renovation. We take on two new apprentices every year. Each A.C. Beck apprentice follows a 2 year programme, with the option to extend their training to a third year. We also give all our apprentices the opportunity to attend college.

Yearly Refresh

Following every Christmas break we organise a full day for Health and safety and teamwork training in conjunction with Dulux. This is a chance to refresh all operatives for Health & Safety responsibilities, asbestos awareness and sustainability.

Management

For all established and training foremen, the company will facilitate training for SSSTS, SMSTS & First Aid training. Office based surveyors have the opportunity to enroll in further education schemes.

Site Specific

Every operative has the opportunity to receive training for works which will help build their training matrix profile. Including PASMA, IPAF, RepairCare, SMSTS & DOFF. The company is always looking to new accreditations to improve the overall service.

Specialist Training

In collaboration with training schools and major painting manufacturers, staff can get training for spraying, wallpapering, broken colour work & gilding.

Words from one of our apprentices

I have been an apprentice at AC Beck for two and a half years. I have attended college and from that experience I can bring my knowledge to sites where I am also learning from my colleagues. I have worked on both commercial sites and heritage properties carrying out works such as windows, railings, doors, filling putty. I appreciate the opportunity that AC Beck has given me and enjoy the work I am doing.

Some words from our clients

A.C. Beck undertook the decorating works at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth. Their approach was of collaboration and professional delivery and their quality of work was excellent and we are extremely pleased with the end result.
Paul Dempster, Managing Director, Health Major Projects, QA Hospital Portsmouth
The team produced a very high quality product within a tight schedule, and worked around difficult scaffolding phases. The result was exceptional and I would say that A.C. Beck are a long term and valuable partner in our comprehensive supply chain.
Eddie Chruszcz, Stonewest Ltd
When you consider the challenges we have faced; working airside in a live operational airport, over a thousand client changes and several changes in BAA’s project based team, this is an exceptional achievement. In addition, the project has achieved 1.4m man hours without a major accident. I am hugely grateful.
James Hindes MCIOB, Operations Director, Carillion Building, London & South East
